Located in Florida's distinguished retirement community, The Villages (Fla.) Regional Hospital's patient friendly atmosphere and stylish design are paramount. Wausau Window and Wall Systems was called upon to provide a window system for the hospital's recent expansion that closely matches the design of the original building and the surrounding community, while meeting the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration's requirements for hurricane resistance.

Wausau worked closely with glazing contractor Lake Glass and Mirror, Leesburg, Fla., to supply a high-performance window system for the $75 million, three-story patient tower that more than tripled the hospital's capacity to 198 patient rooms.

Wausau's solution features its 3250-HP Series windows, engineered to withstand extreme high wind loads and impact resistance. The units are AAMA C-AW120 rated, have received notice of acceptance for Miami-Dade County Product Control Approval, and are tested to SSTD 12-inch large-missile impact and cyclic-pressure loading.

Wausau also furnished integral between-glass venetian blinds for each of the window units, providing convenience and cleanliness while allowing patients to control the sunlight in their rooms.
