Great fake stone face

The four-story, 250-by-150-ft. central atrium in the Embassy Suites Hotel in Destin, Fla., is divided into three circular areas at different elevations and contains planters, a fountain and a waterfall. At the end of each curved wall is a column that must look part of the surroundings as must other columns in the structure. To obtain the look of fine stone without the cost or bother, the columns were capped and planters were wrapped in a high-density resin imitation stone, the Travertine Stone Replica System.

The product also is used on exterior steel columns and lines the roof of the porte-cochere at the front entrance.

The system weighs less, allows more margin for error and costs less to ship than precast stone and is even superior to wood trim, since it is more durable and much less expensive to install as only one step is required. The entire installation used 5,000 feet.
