Greeley, Colo.-based Hensel Phelps Construction and RNL Design, Denver, are teaming to design-build a 140,000-sf office building that will house Fort Carson's new Brigade and Battalion Headquarters, near Denver. The building is organized around a courtyard, providing maximum daylight to interior spaces and allowing for direct access to each functional unit through a glazed entry and circulation link. The building design will include energy-efficient systems and other sustainable design features that could earn the project LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Construction is scheduled to start later this month, with completion by early 2008.
