Turner Construction Company has completed its 100th LEED Certified project. Cincinnati’s Public Schools’ Pleasant Ridge Montessori School has achieved a LEED Silver Certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and is the 100th building constructed by Turner to achieve at least at LEED certified rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Pleasant Ridge Montessori School represents the first K-12 public education facility in the state of Ohio to become LEED Certified. The $13.4 million school was completed as part of the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) partnership with the Cincinnati Public School District.
The Cincinnati Public Schools board of education passed a resolution in 2007 requiring all new construction projects to be built to LEED Silver standards. The Ohio School Facilities Commission also passed a resolution in 2007 requiring all schools seeking state construction funding to build to LEED Silver standards – with strong encouragement of the pursuit of LEED Gold.
Turner, together with D.A.G. Construction Company and TYS Construction Services, served as the construction manager for the Pleasant Ridge Montessori School in Cincinnati.
The 76,300 sq. ft. facility serving students from Kindergarten to eighth grade features a light-colored roof to reflect sunlight and reduce heat absorption; low-flow toilets, urinals and faucet sensors to conserve water; low VOC-emitting products to improve indoor air quality; sloped ceilings and transom windows that channel natural light into each room; a raised flooring system for improved ventilation; and a storm water detention system that allows for controlled dispersement into the existing infrastructure.
