Netflix turns former department stores into the first two Netflix House entertainment venues

Designed by Gensler and built by JT Magen, Netflix House Philadelphia and Netflix House Dallas each occupy more than 100,000 sf of mall space.

Netflix has repurposed former department stores into its first two Netflix House entertainment venues, designed by Gensler and constructed by JT Magen.

The two locations, which opened in late 2025, each occupy a two-story space of more than 100,000 sf. Netflix House Philadelphia was once a Lord & Taylor store in the King of Prussia mall, and Netflix House Dallas used to be a Belk department store in Galleria Dallas.

Named one of TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places 2026, Netflix House provides an admission-free venue for complimentary and paid activities, games, and immersive experiences, as well as a restaurant, shop, photo opps.

The offerings all take inspiration from popular Netflix shows and movies, such as Bridgerton, Stranger Things, and Wednesday. For instance, both locations offer hour-long immersive experiences like Squid Game: Survive the Trials. An arcade in Dallas and mini golf and a VR studio in Philadelphia are also available.

Netflix House regularly updates its offerings based on what’s popular onscreen.

“Netflix House is illustrative of people’s desire for these unique in-person experiences, particularly related to their favorite stories. Being immersed into these worlds provides an extra dimension to the content people are consuming,” said Colum Quirke, a JT Magen project manager who led the Dallas fitout.

“This growing trend of experiential destinations at retail venues opens the door for the adaptive reuse of vacant space at malls and shopping centers to capture customer interest and keep foot traffic coming through,” Quirke added.

The Netflix House project involved “coordination with vendors you don’t typically see in standard retail construction,” Peter Levine, a JT Magen project manager who oversaw the Philadelphia buildout, said in the statement, referencing stage crews, scenic vendors, and large-scale displays and graphics vendors.

Over the past decade, JT Magen has worked on other Netflix projects such as the fit-out of its New York office and the ground-up development of Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth in New Jersey.

On the project team: Netflix House (owner), Gensler (design architect and architect of record), Henderson Engineers (MEP engineer), Magnusson Klemencic Associates (structural engineer), JT Magen (general contractor).
