Austin mixed-use development gains inspiration from surrounding landscape

By Leslie Streicher, Associate Editor | January 4, 2012

The Park Plaza Tower in Austin, Texas, is a mixed-use destination development located near a two-acre public park and the Pfluger Bridge Extension, popular destinations for cyclists and pedestrians. The development includes residential, restaurant, and retail spacesā€”a residential tower overlooks the Town Lake waterfront and ground-level restaurants offer outdoor dining with views of the park. Ziegler Cooper Architects oversaw the design, incorporating a third-floor amenity deck for residents to use the infinity-edge pool or socialize in the clubroom. Aluminum panels and glass accent the limestone faƧade of the buildingā€™s signature cure, while the penthouse and terrace levels are clad completely in glass.
