Work is complete on the $21 million Arts Center Building at Texas Southmost College in Brownsville. At 55,000 sf, the arts center was built by the Texas office of Skanska to reflect the architectural details of neighboring Fort Brown, a decommissioned military post. The new arts center comprises three rehearsal halls, six teaching studios, dressing rooms for performers, and concession spaces. The two-story proscenium theater seats 800, and the building provides acoustically separate spaces for up to eight musical groups.
