(January 2009)  Long Beach, California – Design firm Ware Malcomb announces that design has been completed and construction has begun for first phase of Douglas Park Block 2, an office park being developed by Newcastle Partners, Inc. and investment partner RREEF both headquartered in San Francisco, California.  The project is located at 3900 Cover Street at Worsham Avenue in Long Beach, California immediately adjacent to the Long Beach Airport.

Ware Malcomb is providing planning and architectural design services for the new 9.89 acre office park. The project is comprised of three single story and six two-story buildings totaling 168,052 square feet, ranging in size from 7,623 to 38,563 square feet. The project is currently seeking LEED® CS certification, and incorporates elements such as native landscaping, recycled water irrigation system, reduced heat island effects through cool “white” roofs, reduced heat gain through glazing/shading elements, increased insulation, day lighting controls systems, reduced flow fixtures, and additional high performance efficiencies. 

Millie & Severson of Los Alamitos, California is serving as the General Contractor for the project.   Construction is estimated to be completed by June 2009.
