Massive green student housing complex at Cal Poly

 Poly Canyon Village
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, has opened one of the largest student housing developments in the country. The 1.4-million-sf Poly Canyon Village sleeps up to 2,670 students in four- and five-bedroom unit configurations. With nine buildings rising as high as five stories (plus 5,811 sf of retail space), the village, designed by Niles Bolton Associates and built by Clark Construction, is the largest LEED-certified student housing community in the U.S.

I would like to know more about what makes this “massive student housing complex” so green? More detail would be nice. Also, I hear offering an online education is an interesting way for campuses to “go green.” Does this structure offer Wifi?
