W est Point, Ga.-based Batson-Cook Construction recently broke ground on the $11 million Frank and Laura Lewis Library at LaGrange (Ga.) College. The three-story, 44,000-sf facility is being designed and built to meet LEED Silver certification. The Building Team, which also includes Partners Development, Knoxville, Tenn., and Perry Dean Rogers Partners, Boston, will reclaim an adjacent parking lot and return it to greenspace, enhance MEP systems to reduce water and energy consumption, and specify non-odorous, low-emitting materials that contain recycled content. The library will feature a multimedia classroom, sound room, media production room, coffee bar, 24-hour study hall, and reference rooms.
