Construction has commenced on the first phase of Metro Green Residential, a candidate for LEED New Construction and Neighborhood Development certification, in Stamford, Conn. The Metro Green Apartments project, a joint venture between Jonathan Rose Companies and W&M Properties, based in New York, was designed by Perkins Eastman, New York, to exceed the Enterprise Green Communities guidelines for green affordable housing. The 50-unit development will include a rainwater harvesting system used for drip irrigation and filtered for shared washing machines, a high-performance building envelope, individual heating and cooling units, and gas-fired domestic water heaters.
