There were 721 construction-workplace deaths in 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, down 6.8% from 2010. Preliminary figures indicate the industry's fatality rate declined in 2011, standing at 8.9 per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers, down from 9.8 in 2010.
