California Gov. Jerry Brown issued an executive order recently that calls for all new or renovated state buildings of more than 10,000 sf to achieve LEED Silver or higher and incorporate clean, onsite power generation.
Brown also set a target of zero net energy consumption for 50% of the square footage of existing state-owned buildings by 2025, and zero net energy consumption on all new or renovated state buildings beginning design after 2025.
