The Lakeland, Fla., spring training home of baseball's Detroit Tigers will soon sport a contemporary Mediterranean style architectural façade designed by the Orlando, Fla., office of HKS Architects Inc. To be completed in spring 2003, the $8 million in renovations and new construction to Joker Marchant Stadium will include 1,800 additional seats, changes to the existing press box, and new media offices. Additional renovations include batting cages, a lighted AAA field, an expanded weight room, and an 1,800-sq.-ft. visitors' clubhouse, along with new lockers, showers, coaches' offices and a training room. Rodda Construction of Lakeland is the construction manager.
