Underground garage in Fairfax anticipates Metro station

By Leslie Streicher, Associate Editor | September 12, 2011

The new Reston Metro Station will bring a 1.5 million-sf subterranean parking facility with Kiss and Ride, 10-bay bus loop, bicycle storage area, and 2,300 parking spaces to Fairfax County, Va. The garage will serve the future Reston-Wiehle Ave. Metro station and is one of the largest construction projects on the East Coast.  Comstock Partners LC, James G. David Construction, and designer Davis Carter Scott head the project. Plans call for more than 500,000 cubic yards of soil to be removed in order to build the seven-level underground facility, enough to fill 28 football fields. Substantial economic impact is expected, according to Comstock Partners CEO Christopher Clemente.
