By Leslie Streicher, Associate Editor | September 12, 2011

The CENTRA office building, an underutilized but well-located property in Islin, N.J., has been redesigned and refurbished by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and The Hampshire Companies to offer Class A office space to New Jersey businesses. The project, targeted for LEED Gold certification. is slated to receive an American Institute of Architects New Jersey Chapter Honor Award. The building received top-floor expansions of 10,000 sf while an addition of vision glass and light wells adorns the basement, adding 15,000 sf of office space and tenant amenities. The unique structural design was developed in collaboration with DeSimone Consulting Engineers and utilizes an asymmetrical tree-column and truss.
