Thanks in part to Wausau Window and Wall Systems, the 55,255-sf Orchard Garden hotel in San Francisco is the first hotel in California to be certified under the LEED green building rating system. Wausau worked closely with the design-build team of Architecture International, Mill Valley, Calif., and Swinerton Builders, San Francisco, to maximize natural light in the urban in-fill site by incorporating large, energy-efficient glazing systems. The Building Team specified Wausau's SuperWall curtain wall system, five-inch Heritage Series windows, and terrace doors. The windows and doors meet the industry's most stringent testing for forced entry, air infiltration, water and condensation resistance, and structural integrity to withstand the West Coast's environmental demands.
