Wind protection

Hurricane-resistant doors provide protection against extreme wind loads and the large flying objects the winds generate. The H-Series doors include a full-height, lock-side reinforcement channel, which ensures stability and functionality of locking hardware under extreme pressure. The doors incorporate full-height, epoxy-filled mechanical interlock edges that provide support over the complete height of the door edges.

Stand-up doors

Extruded aluminum doors and frames are used in place of formed metal, and stiles are internally fastened to top and bottom rails during fabrication. Doors can be customized; off-set aluminum frames, which present a dramatic sightline, are available.

Security barrier

Deployable access-control barrier door automatically deploys from side wall pockets, making it safer than roll-down gates, which can cause personal injury. The horizontal SteelCurtain is used at Washington, D.C.'s Ronald Reagan National Airport to compartmentalize the building and contain a possible threat or security incident. The door is controlled by Advanced Synchronized Locking (ASL) software, a Windows-based program that allows on-site security personnel to control and monitor each door. Ideal for airports, embassies, schools, and hospitals.

Positive-pressure fire doors

Cross-corridor wood doors meet positive pressure fire door standards without having to install thermal pins that lock corridor doors in place during a fire, preventing the doors from opening when tenants need to get out. Instead, the door is equipped with a new mineral core and Firestop stiles, rails, and pins. They are secured into the bottom of the door until heat activated, and drop into a hole cut into the floor, releasing the doors from place.

Coming through!

Traffic door with a three-dimensional surface opens and closes faster and easier than others, says manufacturer. Special spring and soft-touch technologies enable the XLP 5000 door to absorb an impact, while at the same time the lightweight "hollow core" and bumpers compress and flex. The impact energy is then released as the door springs back to its normal shape, accelerating the opening speed. The door has an oblong ADA- and OSHA-compliant window, for better visibility and reduced accidents.

Environmentally friendly doors

Toyota Motor Sales' headquarters in Torrance, Calif., contains 624,000 sq. ft. of office space, will house 2,000 of Toyota's associates, and was awarded a LEED Gold rating for environmental design. The 867 Forest Stewardship Council-certified, interior wood doors helped the building earn the rating, by giving them LEED points in seven categories. The Environmental Class doors are considered environmentally friendly because of their finish options.
