Longwood University's fitness center gets LEED Gold

W ater-free urinals, FSC-certified athletic wood floors, an energy-efficient HVAC system, local materials, and a CO2 monitoring system are among the green features at Longwood University's 73,000-sf, LEED-Gold Health & Fitness Center in Farmville, Va. Designed by Moseley Architects, Richmond, Va., the facility includes two basketball courts, a multi-purpose court, exercise/fitness area, climbing wall, two racquetball courts, three multipurpose rooms for aerobic activities, elevated running track, student recreation office suite, and wellness/counseling office suite.
