Food distribution center to create more than 100 jobs in Newark

By Leslie Streicher, Associate Editor | October 11, 2011

A new temperature-controlled distribution center in Newark, N.J., built by Hollister Construction Services will bring about 120 permanent jobs to the city. Distributing Wakefern Food Corp. products to ShopRite stores in the Northeast, Forem Facility Management’s 180,000-sf center is part of a citywide initiative to provide more than $700 million for new development, creating more than 2,500 construction jobs. Following the first phase of the project, the distribution center will gain an additional 100,000 sf, contributing to the state’s goal of creating more than two million square feet of new or renovated space throughout the city.
