Construction on Beijing's tallest building starts next week

Sept. 6, 2011

According to the Beijing Administrative Commission of the Central Business District area, the foundation for Beijing‘s tallest building will be poured starting Sept. 15th.
Located at the north of the central area of Beijing’s Central Business District, the building will reach a height of 510 m.
A rendering of the building shows it will be shaped similar to a wine vessel used in ancient China. The building will also have the texture of woven bamboo, while the top of the building will look like a flying lantern, both traditional Chinese symbols.
The building will house the company headquarters for the Citic Group. The 108 floor mixed-use skyscraper consists of offices, apartments, hotels and shopping malls on the lower floors.
