Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) has launched a new toll-free telephone number designed to provide regulatory authorities with fast access to field support while on the job. The new service is part of a growing portfolio of services that UL makes available to regulatory authorities at no cost.
Because UL is involved in the development of nationally accredited standards and codes used in the built environment , regulators can rely on UL’s Regulatory Services to assist them with their compliance decisions.
“Regulators are typically isolated, often traveling to and from job sites without the benefit of co-workers to help solve problems,” said Alfredo Ramirez, director of Regulatory Services for UL. “UL’s dedicated staff of experts is now available to provide timely answers to regulatory-, certification- and code-related questions whenever they arise.”
UL employs a full-time staff devoted to covering the toll-free Regulatory Services field support line. Regulators can use this service for help with the following issues:

“The public relies on inspectors, installers and other authorities to keep them safe,” said Ramirez. “This new field support service provides these regulators with a direct connection to UL’s expertise when it counts the most.”
