Two ThyssenKrupp Elevator's manufacturing facilities in U.S. earn ISO 14001 certification

August 11, 2010

FRISCO, TX (March 30, 2009) – ThyssenKrupp Elevator, a manufacturer, installer and service provider of vertical and horizontal transportation technology, has announced that its two U.S. manufacturing facilities in Middleton, TN, and Walnut, MS, have received the ISO 14001 certification.

ISO 14001 is a standard instituted by the International Standards Organization that
establishes requirements and guidelines for environmental management systems. ISO
standards ensure that ThyssenKrupp Elevator has in place the correct management
practices, control mechanisms and planning processes to ensure more efficient, safer
and cleaner manufacturing. The implementation of this environmental management
system provides a strategic framework for ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s sustainability
policy, plans and actions.

The ISO 14001 certification attests that ThyssenKrupp Elevator is evaluating and
controlling the environmental impact of its activities. It also confirms that
ThyssenKrupp is committed to continuously improving its environmental performance.

“The recent ISO 14001 certification of our manufacturing facilities reflects our
significant commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Sasha Bailey, LEED AP
and corporate sustainability manager for ThyssenKrupp Elevator. “This certification
denotes our ongoing dedication to the environment and is part of our larger
commitment to our people and our planet.”

Both the Middleton and Walnut manufacturing plants have been ISO 9000 certified
since August 1995, indicating that both factories comply with the international
standards for establishing and running quality management systems.
