Seattle – Turner Construction Co.'s renovation of the firm's Seattle office has received a LEED Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council.
Green features of the 28,000-square-foot renovation include a reduction of water use by 38 percent with the use of low-flow faucets and dual flush toilets. The fit-out also included the use of wood that was 53 percent FSC certified, of which 42 percent was regionally manufactured and 15 percent was regionally extracted. Lighting power density was reduced by 19 percent. In addition, the office purchases half of its electricity from renewable resources. The company diverted 98 percent of construction waste from landfills during the renovation.
