Stadium Has Support

Stadium Has Support

By Staff | August 11, 2010

Omaha mayor Mike Fahey has an agreement with the NCAA to keep the College World Series in Omaha for the next 25 years. Now he has more support for a downtown ballpark. At a public hearing before the Omaha City Council, few residents were against the ballpark. Instead, they talked about the direction the new stadium will face, funding sources that include increased car rental fees and using keno revenues. The council is considering a variety of tax increases to support the stadium, but Omaha hasn't selected an architect and engineering firm to draw the final stadium design. According to the city attorney, the public will not have any input in the design process. The NCAA president and College World Series Inc. president signed the contract to keep CWA in Omaha until 2035.
