Smithsonian American Art Museum receives LED renovations

August 17, 2011

Solais Lighting Inc. has provided lightweight LED lamps for a final test installation at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. Solais Lighting’s 18-watt PAR30 Long-Neck LED lamps with 10-, 25- and 40-degree beam spreads feature actively cooled Luxiance thermal management technology, meeting the museum’s high performance objectives.

The fully dimmable lamps have an average life of 50,000 hours and are free of hazardous substances. Installed in a room with 15- to 16-foot ceilings, the lamps provide a high-quality, long-lasting, and energy-efficient light source for artwork. The Department of Energy is documenting the lamps’ performance.
