Pillsbury Doughboy gets a new floor

Pillsbury Doughboy gets a new floor

By Staff | August 11, 2010
This article first appeared in the 200702 issue of BD+C.

It had all the ingredients for a production slowdown at one of the world's largest food manufacturers: an epoxy flooring system falling apart at General Mills' bakery facility in Minneapolis. Delamination and pitting were caused by thermal shock, aggressive cleaning chemicals, and constant foot traffic. Valspar Flooring and Duluth Coating Solutions teamed to offer just the right recipe: Flowfresh RT polyurethane concrete. The heavy-duty overlayment is suited for food production facilities, providing stability under thermal shock, resistance to organic acids and cleaning chemicals, endurance under heavy forklift traffic, anti-slip properties in wet conditions, and an antimicrobial coating.
