In 2003, Lehigh's white cement earned what might be called the ultimate piece of green building products street cred: A place in the construction of the new California Environmental Protection Agency headquarters in Sacramento. At 950,000 sf and 25 stories tall, the building needed every energy-saving edge it could get, and concrete made with Lehigh's white cement was an important part of achieving this goal.

The Building Team chose Lehigh white cement for portions of the exterior because of the material's durability and ability to reduce heat gain within the structure. In addition, the concrete is made from both renewable and reused resources, making it applicable toward LEED credits.
