Atlanta tower gets a new garden roof

A fully landscaped garden roof, outdoor dining terraces, and two new 56-foot dome skylights highlight the recently completed green roof renovation project at Atlanta's Northpark 500. As part of the project, the building's original 56,000-sf green roof and 60-mil bituminous-type, peel-and-stick waterproofing were removed and replaced with a high-performance waterproofing membrane combined with lightweight, low-profile, green roof technology—all part of a Garden Roof Assembly supplied by American Hydrotech. This included Hydrotech's Gardendrain, an engineered panel designed to provide drainage, retention, and aeration to create a harmonious balance of air and water in the substrate soil.
