In memoriam.Real estate mogul Edward S. Gordon, who most recently helped lead New York City-based commercial real estate brokerage Insignia Financial Group, died in September. The broker and developer was 65.

Expansions and acquisitions. St. Louis-based The Korte Co., providers of design/build and construction management services, will open a new office in suburban Greenwood Village, Colo., near Denver.

New York City-based The York Hunter Group, a construction firm, has opened an office in Washington, D.C. Robert H. Waechter will be in charge.

HNTB Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., has acquired LDR International Inc., a Columbia, Md.-based urban design and planning firm.

On the move. Jerry S. Raeder is president and chief operating officer of St. Louis-based Kennedy Associates Inc. Founder Michael Kennedy will retain the position of chairman and chief executive officer.

George Lippe, the president and chief executive of the Trammell Crow Co., a commercial real estate services company, retired and was succeeded by Robert Sulentic, the CFO.

Glenn House, formerly of House Reh Burwell Architects, has joined Ambrose and McInniney of Houston.

Clark-Nexsen, an architectural and engineering firm headquartered in Norfolk, Va., has opened an office in Alexandria, Va. Gary E. Dickinson will be director.

John E. Kosar, chairman of Pittsburgh, Pa.-based Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associates (BHKR), has been elected to a second term as president of the Design Professionals Risk Control Group. BHKR has also announced new principals appointed to the firm, including Sara W. Moore, Jonathan Willingham Shimm, Haydar K. Hassan and Bruce C. Knepper.

William L. Talbert, executive vice president, has been promoted to regional executive officer for Bethesda, Md.-based The Clark Construction Group's Mid-Atlantic Region. He succeeds Eugene E. Lunger, who is retiring from that post.

Ontario, Calif.-based HMC Group has a new president and CEO, James L. Gilliam. Robert J. Kain is chairman.

Eric J. Vandenbroucke is corporate director of engineering for Peoria, Ill.-based Phillips Swager Associates.

Itasca, Ill.-based Gencon Building Corp. has a new director of business development. Charles Lehr replaces Thomas Barthel, who retired.

James T. Stievater is senior vice president at PB Constructors Inc., the design/build construction subsidiary of the engineering, planning and construction management company, Parsons Brinckerhoff, New York City.

Michael A. Toolis, formerly president of Chicago-based VOA Associates Inc., an international design firm, is now chairman and CEO.

Katrin Scholz-Barth is director of sustainable design for The HOK Planning Group, a dedicated business unit of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. of St. Louis.

Steven T. Halverson, president and CEO of The Haskell Co., based in Jacksonville , Fla., is the new chairman of Design-Build Institute of America.
