Chicago-area developer The Alter Group broke ground in January on a new 10-story office building that adds 227,604 sf of Class-A “green” office space to Chicago's River North neighborhood. Designed by Chicago-based Solomon Cordwell Buenz & Associates with James McHugh Construction Company, Chicago, as the general contractor, the new building will incorporate such sustainable elements as 10 watts/psf of electricity capacity, high-efficiency air handlers, and abundant natural light filtering in through low-E glazing. Two rooftop decks top off the project, which is expected to be completed in early 2008.
