New Building Topped Off on PSU Campus

New Building Topped Off on PSU Campus

By Staff | August 11, 2010

A crane lifted the final steel beam to the top of Portland State University's Academic and Student Recreation Center as part of "topping off" ceremonies held the week of Sept. 22.

The 200,000-square-foot building is scheduled for completion in late 2009. It will house student recreation facilities including a climbing gym, an elevated track and lap pool, the city of Portland archives, the PSU School of Social Work, retail businesses, and classroom space.

Before the final beam was lifted, it was signed by hundreds of people involved in the planning and construction, including PSU students and administrators; representatives from the city of Portland; the building designer, Yost Grube Hall Architecture; and the contractor, Skanska, USA.
