IKEA powers up solar energy system in California

By Business Wire; IKEA | June 23, 2011

On Wednesday, an IKEA in East Palo Alto, Calif., plugged in a 38,000 sq-ft solar power system to produce energy for the local community. The 302-kilowatt system has more than 1,300 panels, allowing the store to produce approximately 427,900 kilowatt-hours of clean energy per year. Equivalent to reducing 326 tons of carbon dioxide, the system helps local officials meet renewable energy goals.

This marks the seventh solar energy project for IKEA. Additional systems have been set up in New York, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Colorado as well as two other locations in California.
