Spending on public sector buildings expected to drop 12%

Monthly construction spending for government buildings is off 7% since last November, with a further 12% drop expected through the winter. The value of government building construction starts is down nearly 20% from the 2008 peak level, with further small declines ahead until the construction stimulus funds become significant late this year.
