The new Gensler-designed prototype store for outdoor and adventure sports clothing and equipment retailer Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) was designed to serve as a working laboratory to analyze the performance of green building features and new retail concepts. The 42,000-sf store is a renovation and expansion of REI's existing Boulder, Colo., store and is certified LEED-CI Silver. Building Team members include Westwood Contracting's Boulder office (GC), Glumac of Los Angeles (MEP engineer), KPFF of Seattle (structural engineer), and TEBO Development Co. of Boulder (owner/developer).
