Essex and Diebold join forces

Essex and Diebold join forces

By Staff | August 11, 2010

Essex Industries and Diebold Inc. have joined to provide customers with integrated solutions for doors, locking hardware, surveillance, alarms and access control systems.

The two leaders in the building security industry will work together to offer customers a new approach to securing a facility. The companies will use their expertise to provide building owners with all the physical barriers for complete facility security so these elements fit seamlessly together and communicate with each other.

New Haven-based Essex Industries, with offices and representatives covering the whole country, is the sales and marketing organization for six companies in the Assa Abloy Group. With more than 100 companies focused on locking products, steel and wood commercial doors and door accessories, the Assa Abloy Group is leading the trend towards higher security. The Essex companies manufacture a full range of mechanical locking devices along with electronic hardware products vital to the complete electronic integrated systems. Diebold is a global leader in providing integrated self-service delivery systems, security and services.

'Until now, providing security features to buildings was a rather piecemeal process involving several suppliers who were often unfamiliar with each other and, more often than not, weren't coordinating their efforts,' said Joe Hynds, vice president of sales and marketing at Essex. 'The most common result of these uncoordinated ventures was incomplete and inadequate security solutions. By combining what we each do best into one holistic approach to security, we can greatly reduce or eliminate these shortcomings.'

'This partnership is a result of Diebold's long-term strategy to form alliances with quality companies that allow us to offer customers complete system integration services,' said Richard Baggot, general manager, Electronic Security Group at Diebold. 'Electronic security customers now get the combined benefit of Diebold's access system expertise and ESSEX's door and hardware expertise in one turnkey solution.'

Through the partnership, Diebold will provide and install the access control equipment and electronics, and Essex will provide door and hardware products.

Essex provides a variety of marketing services and a service link to distributors, architects, end-users and contractors. For more information, visit the company's Web site at www.essexopenings.com.
