The International Code Council honored individuals and groups during its Annual Conference in Minneapolis for their contributions to building safety, fire prevention, safe construction, and code enforcement.
Bobby J. Fowler Award: Bob Weber is a code consultant and former building official and director of the Clark County, NV, Building Department. The award, the Code Council's highest honor, is in memory of the late Bobby Fowler, who is credited with being the founding father of the International Code Council. Weber was recognized for his decades-long advocacy of performance-based design and for his knowledge and expertise of architecture, engineering and codes that have benefited the International Code Council.
Community Service Award: Sun City, AZ, Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. The 18 volunteers of the bureau received the award in recognition of their service to promote public safety, health and welfare. The Fire Prevention Bureau's volunteers perform business inspections; conduct home safety surveys; and install smoke alarms, emergency lock boxes and fire extinguishers to enhance the safety of Sun City residents.
