San Rafael, Calif., software giant Autodesk agreed to acquire nearly all the assets of Green Building Studio and Carmel Software Corp. to expand its sustainable design product portfolio. Financial terms of the deals weren't disclosed. Green Building Studio is a Web-based building energy analysis provider, while Carmel Software develops heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanical engineering software.
Autodesk Senior Vice President for AEC Solutions Jay Bhatt said the Carmel acquisition was already complete and that Autodesk expects to close the Green Building Studio acquisition in several months. Bhatt also said that the energry analysis tools from GBS, which were already used in conjunction with Autodesk's Revit building information modeling software, will be integrated more into Autodesk's products.
"It should be pretty seamless," Bhatt said. "The functionality is already in Revit at the push of a button so it will only mean more integration."
Autodesk posted nine-month revenue of $1.57 billion at the end of October.
