This course will discuss major security-related principles in the design and construction of multifamily projects. Discover measures to improve exterior and interior security measures.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After studying this article, you should be able to:

Discuss major security-related principles in the design and construction of multifamily projects, notably the development of a comprehensive security plan and the use of CPTED (“Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design”) principles.

List at least three measures to improve exterior security in multifamily projects, such as measures related to fencing, lighting, landscaping, and entryways.

Review the importance of up to three interior safety measures, such as measures related to entry doors and door hardware, package delivery services, and storage rooms.

Describe several key security-related factors in the design and construction of parking garages in multifamily complexes.
