SimplexGrinnell strengthens security portfolio with new Intransa alliance

August 11, 2010

BOCA RATON, Fla. (June 23, 2009) – SimplexGrinnell, a longtime leader in fire and life safety, and Intransa, a leader in physical security data management and video storage, today announced a new sales and marketing relationship.  The agreement enables SimplexGrinnell to offer Intransa products as part of its surveillance, life-safety and physical security solution portfolio.

“Intransa’s scalable and affordable security-grade storage, designed specifically for the video needs of physical security, will be a game changer to our customers,” said Tom Giannini, CPP, SimplexGrinnell director of integrated security systems. “Whenever a customer needs more than one DVR or NVR, or when retention requirements exceed the capabilities of a single DVR, Intransa is an excellent fit.”

Intransa shared, external storage can deliver a few days of CCTV surveillance video retention for edge recording in retail, banking and other critical applications. At the same time, Intransa solutions can scale modularly to support months or years of instantly-available video for multiple sites or major projects – at a fraction of the price of traditional direct attached, captive storage used in DVRs and NVRs.

“SimplexGrinnell is a recognized leader in fire, life-safety and integrated security solutions,” said George Vaiser, Intransa vice president, video system applications.  “With their market knowledge and experience, I’m very excited that they have chosen to add Intransa shared IP video storage to their portfolio of outstanding security products.”

As part of the agreement, Intransa will add support for SimplexGrinnell solutions to its StorAlliance program. Intransa products are immediately available from SimplexGrinnell.

The Value of Intransa Solutions

According to Giannini, Intransa solutions can be critically important for security practitioners given today’s economic uncertainty and budget challenges.  They offer the ability to affordably extend the capabilities of one or more existing DVRs without the challenge and cost of moving to a full IP deployment.  In addition to Smart CCTV DVR Upgrades that leverage existing infrastructure, Intransa also delivers scalable solutions for new video surveillance deployments with all the benefits, cost reduction, and increased reliability of IP technology.

Customers that have deployed Intransa solutions in the past year include hotels and casinos, correctional facilities, police departments, hospitals and medical centers, managed service providers, telecommunications companies, retailers, pharmaceutical makers, financial institutions, Native American organizations, educational institutions, digital entertainment providers, utilities and government.  In doing so, they are looking to increase reliability, retention and resolution while reducing cost, complexity and administration

“SimplexGrinnell’s customers across North American can greatly benefit from ‘thinking outside the DVR’ as a result of this relationship,” said Vaiser.
