Hotel’s striking columns make red the new green

Hotel’s striking columns make red the new green

February 21, 2011

Electric-red decorative metal columns from Móz Designs were used in the Art Deco-inspired lobby bar and reception center at the 3.2-million-sf Planet Hollywood Towers resort, which adjoins the Planet Hollywood Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Faced with solid-core recycled aluminum, the 17 columns have a rippled pattern with a translucent holographic effect. The columns, which have a DuraFilm protective coating, disappear into illuminated overhead soffits, while satin-finished stainless steel base plates conceal up lighting. Móz ceiling tiles were used in the VIP porte-cochere. The materials are constructed from 80% post-industrial recycled materials and may contribute to LEED credits for recycled content.
