Glendale, Ariz., uses wireless outdoor street lights to monitor energy

December 12, 2011

The city of Glendale, Ariz., is using ROAM wireless systems from Acuity Brands to manage and maintain its outdoor lighting networks. The monitoring system reports the exact location of malfunctioning streetlights via a Web-based portal, providing detailed energy consumption and tracking while monitoring critical electric distribution system characteristics. “The ROAM system has made a huge difference in efficiency of operations,” Glendale street lighting program manager Mike Sills-Trausch said. “The reporting is so accurate, even small changes in repair service are noticeable by city staff.”
