Foodservice distributor’s LED lighting cuts carbon emissions, energy use

April 15, 2011 |

An intelligent lighting system from Digital Lumens was installed in the Amsterdam, N.Y., headquarters of Quandt’s Foodservice as part of the company’s sustainability overhaul. Quandt’s worked with Bluestone Energy Services, Norwell, Mass., to install the LED-based lighting system, which is expected to save the family-owned food distributor 219,436 lb of CO2 and 264,915 kWh per year. The installation included Digital Lumens’ custom-designed LED luminaires (including highbays in racked aisles and midbays in open areas), occupancy sensors, and wireless networking that integrates all lighting into a single standardized system.
