Fire-rated doors are lighter, fitter

Fire-rated doors are lighter, fitter

This article first appeared in the 200706 issue of BD+C.

Special-Lite fire-rated doors are now considerably lighter thanks to a new mineral core material. The lightweight core reduces the weight of a typical 3x7-foot door by approximately 60 pounds, easing installation and daily operation. All Special-Lite fire-rated doors are tested in accordance with UBC 7-2, NFPA 225, and UL 10C requirements for interior applications, and have passed the 90-minute positive-pressure test, hose-stream test, and 250-degree F temperature rise test. Available with 30-, 45-, 60-, and 90-minute fire ratings.
