Rogers Centre, home to the MLB Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League, wanted to gain control of its lighting energy use. With an annual electricity bill that often exceeded $3 million, the facility’s management enlisted the help of Encelium Technologies and its energy management system. The EMS utilized daylight harvesting, personal software-based controls, occupancy controls, smart-time scheduling, task tuning, and variable load shedding to reduce Rogers Centre’s energy usage by 56 to 79% throughout the building, translating into savings of $303,000 annually.
