This article first appeared in the 200701 issue of BD+C.

Copper fabric flashing and drainage system for brick masonry construction features a patent-pending non-woven wicking layer that draws moisture behind and beneath mortar droppings and out through the mortar joint. The York Flash-Vent eliminates the need for mortar deflection and saves time and money by requiring fewer components to purchase and install, according to the maker. Composed of fiberglass bonded to 3- or 5-oz. copper with a clean, asphalt-free rubber adhesive, resulting in a lightweight and flexible material.
