Duke Energy Center in Charlotte, N.C., is a 50-story, 1.5-million-sf tower and the latest addition to the Queen City’s skyline. The LEED Platinum-certified building’s exterior features 127,400 sf of Alcoa Architectural Products’ pearl white Reynobond aluminum composite material, which contributes to a number of the building’s unique architectural features. The ACM is visible on the corner details, roofline, and tapered crown element to counterbalance the amount of glass that surrounds most of the building. The product is also prominent at the 48th story, where the glass walls slope inward, forming a 160-foot horizontal sky window.
