A Manhattan site formerly slated for development with a "tower of cubes"—a now-defunct project by Santiago Calatrava—will be revived with a 998-foot, 300,000-sf apartment building by Morali Architects [1]. Developer Cord Meyer [2] selected Anthony Morali's design for 80 South Street, which will include a hotel at the base and a series of integrated garden spaces. Vegetative roofs will punctuate the building at 10-story intervals, supporting gardens that will include vegetables and herbs for a shared kitchen.
The design has not yet been approved by the city Department of Buildings.
