“The administrative office campus at Mark Center for the DoD is designed to create a world-class workplace,” said Mike Nicolaus, AIA, principal and senior designer with HKS, Inc. “High security and workplace excellence are defining elements of the development. The cornerstone of the design is a flexible, efficient layout with large floor plates to allow for modularization of the tenant planning. Architecturally, the office campus is visually appealing inside and out, complementing the existing campus workplace environment and integrating with the natural setting.”
According to Denny Oklak, Duke’s chairman and CEO, the team is dedicated to the on time delivery of the new home for the DoD associates who will be relocating in 2011. “Mark Center provides the optimal solution for the Department of the Army in meeting the space, transportation, security and timeline needs for the relocation.”
The 16-acre land parcel at Mark Center has the supporting infrastructure in place for the proposed new development as well as necessary zoning approvals from the City of Alexandria.
The corporate campus will be completed by the federally mandated BRAC date of September 15, 2011.
