August 11, 2010

Pilkington has announced the production and availability of Optiwhite brand low iron float glass at its Laurinburg, North Carolina facility. The trend to decorative glass and the overall push to higher daylight transmittance products have created this opportunity in North America.

Pilkington Optiwhite™ has a near colorless appearance which is remarkably noticeable as compared to standard clear float glass. Optiwhite™ glass offers enhanced aesthetics for a wide variety of applications, including but not limited to; storefronts, showers, appliances, decorative and furniture applications, photovoltaic modules and solar collectors.

In 1984, Pilkington began producing low iron glass in Europe. Since then, Optiwhite™ has shown continued growth and popularity, and as a result, is now being produced on two continents.
